The latest calamity besetting the country brings out the best in people but also brings out the worst in scammers.
Television host Bianca Gonzalez has urged the public to course their donations through trusted organizations. In a latest post on Twitter, the celebrity warned donors against falling for charity scams.
“Please be careful bago kayo mag-donate,” she tweeted.
“It’s best kung trusted organization, madami din sa mga schools, kung kakilala ninyo mismo o magtanong sa mga kaibigan kung legit ito,” she said.
She advised donors to take precautions against those who may take advantage of the latest natural disaster.
“Madami na ang na-scam din kaya mag-ingat,” she said.
Military and other government forces have moved to rescue thousands of people in Cagayan province which has been flooded by typhoon Ulysses. Many towns have been submerged in floodwaters, aggravated by the release of water from nearby dams. The province has been placed under state of calamity due to the massive flooding.
