COVID test price cap may be released this week – Palace

By Prince Golez

A price cap on the coronavirus (Covid-19) testing may be announced this week, according to Malacañang.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are discussing the price range for the coronavirus disease tests.

“Yan naman po ay dedesyunan ng DOT at ng DTI. Kung hindi ako nagkakamali baka itong linggong ito meron nang price cap na ilalabas,” Roque said during his virtual presser Monday.

President Rodrigo Duterte had issued Executive Order 118, ordering the DOH and the DTI to implement a price cap on COVID-19 testing and test kits to ensure its accessibility and affordability.

Failure to comply may be considered as a ground for the revocation of existing licenses or accreditation of health establishments operating a Covid-19 diagnostic laboratory.
