De Lima to admin: Prioritize funding for disaster response, not intel, anti-insurgency

Senator Leila De Lima on Wednesday asked the Duterte administration to prioritize funding for depleted calamity funds for areas devastated by Typhoon Rolly.

In a dispatch from Camp Crame, the detained senator said the money should go to communities affected by disaster instead of confidential and intelligence funds and the anti-insurgency funds.

“Ang Calamity Fund o Disaster Response Fund, for both the national and local governments, and more so, the LGUs, ang dapat tinitiyak na malaki at sapat,” De Lima said.

“Ganun din ang budget para sa DSWD at DOH. Not the President’s intelligence and confidential funds. Not the anti-insurgency fund,” she said.

“Verily, the policy directions and budgetary priorities of the Duterte officialdom need a lot of fixing,” De Lima said.

“Enough of the shock-and-awe, propaganda mentality. Our leaders must get down to the real and compelling business of good governance,” she added.
