Delikado Sara, Bong Go kay Robredo! Winnie Monsod links Duterte’s attacks vs VP to 2022

Former socioeconomic planning secretary Winnie Monsod believes President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent tirades against Vice President Leni Robredo may be linked to a “search and destroy” campaign ahead of the 2022 elections.

In her November 21 column for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Monsod said Robredo may be the “most dangerous” rival to the possible tandem of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, the President’s daughter, and Senator Bong Go.

She called Sara a “dynastic rival” who supposedly has a penchant for throwing her weight around.

“Maybe this is the beginning of a search-and-destroy campaign—searching and destroying (figuratively) all possible candidates who might go up against a Sara Duterte-Bong Go tandem in 2022,” Monsod said.

“And Leni Robredo may be the most dangerous, because the Filipino people would be confronted by two drastically different candidates—one a caring, nonpolitician type who does her job come hell or high water, untainted by corruption or drugs, and a lady to the tips of her fingers; and the other a dynastic rival who typically thinks that she is above the law (she once punched a sheriff for doing his job) and who uses her power and influence to increase her power and influence,” she added.

Duterte recently lashed out at Robredo for supposedly claiming he was missing in action at the height of Typhoon Ulysses.

In his November 17 public address, the President called Robredo “dishonest” and warned her against competing with him.

“When you start your campaign, kung magtakbo ka ng Presidente, waswasan kita nang husto This is your nightmare,” said Duterte.
