Duterte denies sleeping through the typhoon: Nagtatrabaho ako

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday denied sleeping through the night when typhoon Ulysses severely devastated parts of the country.

Duterte said he was closely monitoring the situation while he was attending the ASEAN summit via video conference.

“Gusto ninyong ipalabas natutulog. Kung ordinary times, walang emergency, walang typhoon, I told you right in the beginning of my term, I am a night person. My day starts at 2 o’clock in Malacañan,” he said during a televised address.

The Chief Executive accused Vice President Leni Robredo of questioning his whereabouts during the onslaught of Ulysses.

Robredo, he said, knew that he was taking part in the virtual meeting of ASEAN leaders but still lied to the public.

“Hindi ninyo alam na nagtatrabaho ako. Na-timingan lang it was a summit and I cannot excuse you for not knowing it. You knew that there was a summit going on and you had the gall to say, ‘Nasaan ang Presidente?’,” he added.
