The government is “open” to sourcing coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines from other countries, Malacañang said Thursday.
President Rodrigo Duterte had said he would prioritize Covid-19 vaccines developed by Russia or China.
“We’re open to purchase vaccines sa lahat ng magkakaroon ng vaccine,” Duterte’s mouthpiece Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.
Roque, however, said an expert panel will review the safety and efficacy of these vaccines.
“Sa ngayon, kaya naman nauna itong bansang Tsina atsaka Amerika kasi alam natin sila yung pinaka-advance na,” he also said.
The Palace official was reacting to Indian pharmaceutical company Serum Institute of India’s commitment to supply the Philippines with its vaccine once it becomes available.
