Party like no one’s dying! Netizens bash Mayor Jeff Soriano’s daughter after revealing he’s MIA as heavy flooding hit Tuguegarao

Socialite and businesswoman Bea Soriano Dee is getting a lot of hate on Instagram after she revealed her father, Tuguegarao Mayor Jeff Soriano, wasn’t in the city when Typhoon Ulysses struck.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, (November 12), Dee said their family celebrated Soriano’s birthday together. The caption read: “I didn’t even think I would see you for the rest of the year. So having you here with us is the best gift ever [two hearts emoji]. happy happy birthday to my man, my fave petite papa (haha) [two hearts emoji].”

Dee admitted her father had to rush back to Tuguegarao when netizens slammed her over his absence while the city experienced its worst flooding since the 1970s.

“He is there now. He cut his trip short and without hesitation took a 16 hour car trip right when the roads were passable,” she said. “And if my mom weren’t a senior she would have braved those floods too as she usually does!!”

Netizens slammed the Sorianos’ insensitivity in the comments section of Dee’s post, since it was obvious the mayor left Tuguegarao residents to fend for themselves at a time of crisis.

“Parang utang na loob pa ng mga taga tuguegarao na umuwi siya eh noh,” said @_carloschester.

“People are literally dying. There was still a storm passing. He should’ve stayed. But at least he celebrated his birthday and did the bare minimum of going back!” said @voidracha.

“So parg kasalanan pa namin that he cut his trip short hahahaha sana all bday2 lang kahit may bagyo, celebrate2 while ppl are dying,” said @aaafrry.

“Sana all nakakacelebrate ng bday out of town and kahit alam na may bagyong dadating, sana all… kahit lubog na yung bayan at constituent nya… sana lahat may accountability and responsible… yan po yung wish ko,” said @azukolokoy.

“Kapal ng mukha ng tatay mo para magbakasyon kung kelan need siya ng mga tao sa tugue,” said @thriftprive.

“Kung nakakalusot si Mayor sa graft charges, I hope this time he will be held accountable for his incompetency. Habang kayo nagsasaya at natutulog ng mahimbing ilang daang kababayan niyo ang nilalamig at nagkukumahog na makahingi ng tulong,” said @on_the_trendph.

Dee has deleted her Instagram post as of Saturday (November 14).
