Air carries are no longer required to keep an isolation area for suspected ill travellers, Malacañang announced Friday.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases has removed the requirement for air carriers to reserve a portion of the aircraft cabin as an isolation area for suspected ill passengers on board as part of the coronavirus health protocols for domestic flights.
Asked why, Roque told reporters: “Kasi may requirements na ang airlines na either PCR or antigen. Bawal symptomatics din.”
The IATF also instructed local government units (LGUs) to relax entry protocols such as test-upon-arrival requirement imposed upon airline crew layovers/positioning due to emergency situations like typhoons, volcanic activities, and diversions and emergency landings, among others.
Air crew members will also be allowed to temporarily billet in accommodation establishments under a “bubble” concept supervised by the LGUs, the secretary added.
