Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., who serves as vaccine czar and chief implementer of the government’s policy on Covid-19, thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for designating him as vaccine czar.
In yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Duterte authorized Galvez to negotiate for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines.
“Ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa ating Presidente sa kanyang tiwala at naibigay niya po na napakalaking responsibilidad,” Galvez said, also expressing his gratitude to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and other Cabinet members for moral support.
“Sa totoo lang po, I feel nervous dahil alam ko po na napakalaki ng responsibilidad sa aking balikat,” he added.
The government’s vaccine czar likewise presented the key considerations of the Philippine National Vaccine Roadmap which include safety, efficacy, sensitivity, costs and supply chain requirements, access for clinical trials and regional/local production and distribution, and complexity on the implementation.
