‘Di na ba makikilala? BuCor: 14K Bilibid inmates undergo removal of gang tattoos

Over 14,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City had their gang tattoos removed, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Friday (Dec. 25).

“Sa ngayon, nasa 14,338 PDL na ang naburahan ng tatak o gang tattoos sa BuCor,” the BuCor said in a statement.

“Malugod din po naming ipinapaalam na ang buong NBP Maximum Security Compound (MaxSeCom) ay isa ng ganap na prison gang-free facility,” it also declared.

The removal of the gang tattoos was made under the Oplan Bura Tatak which BuCor Dir. Gen. Gerald Bantag started implementing on Oct. 29.

Bantag came up with Oplan Tatak Bura to address gang violence in BuCor prisons.

“Sinuportahan ito ng mga lider ng labindalawang (12) aktibong gang sa loob ng Maximum Security Compound (MaxSeCom) sa pamamagitan ng Symbolic Pledge of Support kung saan boluntaryong magpapatatanggal ng mga gang mark sa mga gusali at kanilang balat,” the BuCor said.

The BuCor held its last day of Oplan Bura Tatak on Thursday (Dec. 24) and, during which, 167 gang commanders, assistant commanders, mayores and vice-mayores of the prison community had their respective gang tattoos removed.
