Duterte tells Mabilog’s wife: No such thing as moving on

There’s no way President Rodrigo Duterte will move on from the inclusion of former Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog in the narco-list.

“Look, it is not my fault that your husband’s name appears on that list. Hindi aking listahan ‘yan. Now, there is no such thing as I have to move on because it’s a constant vigilance,” Duterte said, reacting to Mabilog’s wife appeal to move on and stop his tirades against her husband.

Duterte also clarified that Mabilog’s dismissal from service and perpetual disqualification from holding public office was not his decision but the Ombudsman’s.

“Yong conviction niya, dismissed from public office and barred from seeking to hold public office, that is not my decision, it is the decision of the Ombudsman,” he said during his televised address Monday night.

In 2017, the Ombudsman dismissed Mabilog for serious dishonesty over unexplained wealth in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth from 2012 to 2013.

Mabilog was among the local officials tagged by Duterte as involved in illegal drugs in 2016.
