A first cousin of defeated vice presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has endorsed the impeachment complaint filed against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
Ilocos Norte Rep. Angelo Barba signed the resolution of endorsement that accompanied the impeachment complaint filed by Edwin Cordevilla, secretary general of the Filipino League of Advocates For Good Government (FLAGG), before the Office of the House Secretary General Monday (December 7).
“Mang Ed Cordevilla came to me and as a constituent in my district, I entertained him, I heard his complaint and I believed in it. That’s why I’m here as his congressman. I accompanied them, and that’s it,” Barba said.
Asked how his endorsement of the impeachment complaint could affect Leonen’s participation in the electoral protest filed by Marcos, Barba remarked: “That is secondary already.”
Marcos has a pending poll protest before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal questioning the victory of Vice President Leni Robredo. Leonen is the magistrate in charge of the protest.
