Do not gamble with people’s lives.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has pleaded to the government to purchase only the best coronavirus vaccines available in the market. According to the senator, the government must not settle with vaccines that offer the lowest efficacy rate.

“Bakit tayo kukuha at gagamit ng vaccine na hindi siguradong gagana? Buhay po ng ating mga kababayan ang nakataya,” he tweeted.

Gatchalian also warned against gambling with the lives of people in the acquisition of the any low quality COVID-19 vaccines.

“Para tayong tumataya sa perya gamit ang buhay ng tao. Why settle for the lowest efficacy rate in the market? We should get the best for our people,” he said.

The government reportedly intends to buy millions of doses coronavirus vaccines, including those made by China’s Sinovac Biotech despite its lower efficacy rate compared to other drugs. The Chinese-made vaccines reportedly has 50 percent efficacy rate.
