Gov’t to issue public advisory on proper use of face shields

By Prince Golez

The government will soon be issuing an advisory on the proper use of face shields.

In a statement on Friday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the government’s coronavirus (Covid-19) task force enjoined concerned agencies to release a consolidated public advisory on the correct use of a face shield.

Malacañang earlier announced that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has required all Filipinos to wear face masks and face shields in all places outside of their homes.

“The IATF on December 17, 2020, Thursday, instructed the Department of Health, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Department of Labor and Employment, and other agencies of the national government to issue a consolidated advisory to the public on the proper use of face shields when leaving residences, including exclusions or exemptions, as may be appropriate,” said Roque.

The spokesperson earlier said the mandatory use of face shields is an “additional protection” to prevent the surge of Covid-19.

As of yesterday, the Philippines recorded a total of 454,447 cases of Covid-19, with 25,695 active cases and 8,850 casualties.
