Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat is living up to being the country’s foremost ambassador not only of local destinations but also local products.
The tourism chief has grown accustomed to wearing locally woven clothing wherever she goes. In an Instagram post, Puyat confessed that she loves wearing clothes designed by local artists.
“I wear local not because I have to. I wear local because i want to
” the DOT secretary said.
“Gone are the days when wearing something 
felt like it was ‘linggo ng wika’
,” she added.
A latest Instagram snapshot showed the Cabinet member wearing a barong top as well as local pants and shoes.
“I bought this barong top by @amariebyanne from @katutubopopupmarket about two years and I wear it over and over again
Pants are from @tartetatin 
Shoes are by @annieandlori and is made of sako or jute sack 
” she said.
While she adores wearing local clothes, she is urging the public to support the local textile and footwear industry too. “If you have time, drop by @katutubopopupmarket or shop online #SupportLocal #LoveLocal,” she said.
