President Rodrigo Duterte conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Grand Cross (Datu) Gold Distinction on South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-man during a farewell call in Malacañang Thursday.
Malacañang has yet to release details of the meeting.
Official photos, however, showed Duterte sharing his misting machine for sanitation with outgoing Ambassador Han.
The Order of Sikatuna is an order of diplomatic merit conferred upon individuals who have rendered exceptional and meritorious services to the Republic of the Philippines.
It is conferred upon diplomats, officials, and nationals of foreign states who have rendered conspicuous service in fostering, developing, and strengthening relations between their country and the Philippines; or upon personnel of the Department of Foreign Affairs, both in the home office and in the foreign service.
Han previously served as South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for International Economic Affairs.
Also present at the meeting were Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs and Chief of Presidential Protocol Robert Borje, Minister-Counsellor Kim Sunyoung, and Second Secretary Kim Myungjin.
