New norm: Extrajudicial killings, abuse of authority the ‘evil’ brought by Duterte to PH, Trillanes says

It’s the new normal.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is alarmed by the alleged prevalence of government abuse and extrajudicial killings in the country.

Trillanes has blamed President Duterte for supposedly brining the “evil” in the country with the recent string of unfortunate events.

“This is not an isolated incident anymore. EJK/Abuse of authority is now the norm,” he tweeted.

“This is the kind of evil that duterte has brought to our country,” he added.

The former lawmaker was reacting to a news report that two cops were implicated in the kidnapping-slay of a man in Baguio City last month. Recently a Parañaque cop has been slapped with double murder charges over the killing of a mother and son in Tarlac. The brazen killing was caught on video that became viral online. It elicited widespread outrage against the alleged brutality and abuse of police supposedly emboldened by President Duterte’s support.

Trillanes asked if public outrage over killings was linked to viral videos only.

“Kapag viral videos of killings, nagagalit ang mga Pinoy. Pero pag pictures of thousands of dead people killed thru EJKs, maraming walang pakialam. Is the Pinoy’s sense of outrage and empathy attached to viral videos only?” he asked.
