Clueless.
A Thai news website has caused quite a stir online after using an animated GIF of Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque without knowing who he is.
Thai Enquirer admitted they had no idea who Roque is, saying it used the image online on Twitter since he is “round and Asian.” Roque’s GIF was placed alongside Thai Enquirer’s list of reminders on how to prevent the new coronavirus disease on Twitter.
The Thai news website’s tweet read: “We’re all in this together so we would just like to remind everyone reading to 1. Wash your hands constantly; 2. Always wear a mask; 3. Socially Distance. Listen to government announcements and do not take unnecessary risks.”
The website later explained why it used the image of Roque.
“We have no idea who this person is,” Thai Enquirer tweeted.
“We used the gif because he’s round and Asian!!” it added.

Many netizens started to question the use of Roque’s GIF in the website’s reminder on how to prevent COVID. Some claimed that Roque violated health protocols.

He’ll probably use this tweet to show that we’re doing well here, even when we’re clearly not https://t.co/auANt0sVKA
We forgive you of your innocence. But many of us Filipinos are not proud of him insisting protocols but clearly the one who doesn't follow them.

After a netizen criticized Roque had “no principles” and was “an opportunist,” the Thai website tweeted that Roque’s name sounded like a virus.
