Malacañang said it has nothing to do with the impeachment complaint against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen at the House of Representatives.
In a virtual presser Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also denied knowing the group behind the complaint.
“Hindi ko alam kung kaninong project yan. Sa House po yan,” he said.
Asked if the impeachment case had the imprimatur of President Rodrigo Duterte, Roque told reporters: “Absolutely not. None. Wala pong kinalaman diyan. We don’t even know who the proponents are.”
Edwin Cordevilla, secretary-general of the Filipino League of Advocates For Good Government, had earlier filed before the Lower House an impeachment complaint against Leonen for culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust.
It was endorsed by Ilocos Norte Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba, cousin of former Senator Bongbong Marcos whose poll protest against Vice President Leni Robredo with the Supreme Court remains pending.
