Sen. Panfilo Lacson raised this question Saturday evening after Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said a travel ban would be considered only when the new variant is at the level of community transmission.
“Hayaan daw munang kumalat sa Pilipinas ang Covid-19 variant mula sa UK bago mag travel ban. Galit ba sa Pilipino ang taong ito?” Lacson said on his Twitter account following Duque’s pronouncement at a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Earlier, Lacson scored Duque for several blunders in government efforts to respond to the coronavirus threat.
He said Duque failed to do even a simple contact tracing on the co-passengers of an infected couple from Wuhan, China earlier this year. Duque even tried to pin the blame on other agencies, he noted.
Earlier this month, Lacson noted Duque dropped the ball on efforts to procure COVID vaccines from the United States, by not signing a Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement on time.
