Malacañang once again appealed to the public to follow all health and safety guidelines as the government allows more business activity to help the economy recover from the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Umaapela po tayo sa ating mga kababayan. Talaga pong ang tanging paraan para mapatupad itong lahat ng mga minimum health protocols ay ang pagsunod ng lahat ng mga Pilipino,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.

Roque made the statement after the Department of Tourism reminded all accommodation and tourism establishments in the country to observe health and safety protocols at all times.

The local government of San Juan, Batangas recently revoked the business permit of Blue Coral Beach Resorts, Inc. after the resort violated rules on mass gathering.

“Kaya po natin binubuksan ang turismo, napakadami na pong nagugutom sa sektor na iyan pero hindi po ibig sabihin babalewalain na natin iyong mga napatunayan nang pamamaraan para mapabagal po ang pagkalat ng Covid-19 – mask, hugas, iwas,” the Palace official said.

Roque recently drew flak for attending a crowded local government event on Bantayan Island, Cebu. The Interior department is currently investigating the mass gathering attended by the spokesperson last November 27.
