‘Puro daldal lang at hindi nagpareserba:’ Trillanes slams Duterte’s failure to secure early COVID vaccine supply

The Philippines won’t get its vaccine supply anytime soon.

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV laid down the unfortunate scenario after the government supposedly failed to secure the country’s early supply for the vaccines.

Trillanes, in a latest social media post, chided President Duterte for not making immediate reservations for the medicines from vaccine manufacturers abroad. Duterte was all talk about the importance of the vaccines to address the pandemic but failed to take action, Trillanes added.

“Nung July, paulit-ulit na sinasabi ni duterte na vaccine ang solusyon sa pandemya. Pero akalain mo na puro daldal lang pala at HINDI NAGPARESERBA sa Pfizer, Moderna, etc,” he tweeted.

Since the government was supposedly unable to make vaccine reservations, Trillanes said the country may get its hands on the medicines late next year. The former lawmaker called Duterte “incompetent” over the government’s vaccine acquisition plan.

“Kaya at the earliest, late nxt yr pa makakakuha ang Ph. In Singapore, sa Dec meron na. #duterteincompetent,” he said.

The government plans to finalize a deal with Chinese manufacturer Sinovac Biotech to supply the country with 25 million doses of coronavirus vaccines by March 2021. The latest statement was made by vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.
