A regional trial court (RTC) in Cagayan de Oro City has been allowed to close by the Supreme Court (SC) after one its staff caught the COVID-19 virus.
In a memorandum, Deputy Court Administrator Leo Madrazo told Cagayan de Oro City RTC Branch 37 Presiding Judge Corazon Gaite-Llanderal that the SC’ Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) has granted her request to close from Dec. 9 to 22 or once the results of the COVID-19 tests of her staff has been released.
““Court hearings shall not be canceled, but shall be done via videoconferencing from your residence for the said during of time,” read the memorandum of Madrazo.
“Strict observance of the relevant provisions on the use of videoconferencing technology and the significant provisions on the Rules on Electronic Evidence,” he added.
During the period, Madrazo told that judge that court employees are “on work from home arrangement” and “should not leave their residences so as not to be infected from other sources.”
“Imposition of disciplinary actions on erring employees is advised,” he advised.
“Upon return to work, please schedule court disinifection preferably on weekends to avoid disruption of work,” Madrazo also instructed.
