The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City has become free from the COVID-19 virus, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) declared on Saturday (Dec. 26).
“As of this day, there are no active cases of COVID19 among PDLs (persons deprived of liberty) in NBP,” the BuCor said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the BuCor said it conducted rapid antigen testing on Saturday for inmates of NBP’s Maximum Security Compound.
“A total of 123 PDLs were tested,” the BuCor said.
“The test was done as a precautionary measure as we temporarily allow ‘controlled dalaw’ of PDL’s relatives this holiday season,” it explained.
The BuCor called rapid antigen testing it adopted as “a big push in our fight against the pandemic.”
