Ousted Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano claims he’s no longer dreaming of returning to his old position, which is now held by Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Jay Velasco.
Cayetano on Thursday (January 14) said the bloc he formed with allies, named “BTS Sa Kongreso,” was aimed at raising awareness on issues, not destabilizing the House leadership.
Addressing Velasco’s allies—whom he claimed have launched a smear campaign against his group—Cayetano said: “Ang advice ko sa kanila, makinig muna bago kayo mag-comment. Kung makikita niyo ang aming questions about vaccination, about presyo ng bilihin, about Bayanihan 1 and 2.”
“Sa inyong sa inyo na ang speakership. isaksak n’yo pa sa baga n’yo, no problem sa amin. Hindi ‘yun ‘yung issue dito,” he added.
Aside from Cayetano, BTS Sa Kongreso is composed of Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte Jr, Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro, Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez, Batangas Rep. Raneo Abu, Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor and Bulacan Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado.
The six lawmakers lost their plum posts in the House following Cayetano’s ouster as Speaker in October last year.
