President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act No. (RA) 11517 authorizing the President to expedite the processing and issuance of national and local permits, licenses and certifications during times of national emergencies.
The new law shall cover all agencies of the executive branch, including departments, bureaus, offices, commissions, boards, councils; government instrumentalities, government owned and controlled corporations and local government units.
Under the measure, the President shall have the authority to suspend the requirements for national and local permits, licenses and certifications, and to streamline and expedite the process for their issuance.
Section 3 of RA 11517 also authorizes the President to suspend or remove any government official or employee as provided under the law.
Duterte signed the law on December 23, 2020.
