Kahit papano, may nagawa: Ping says LGUs doing what national govt cannot on vaccine procurement

While they may be uncoordinated, the local government units are way ahead of the national government in procuring COVID vaccines, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Thursday.

Lacson said the LGUs are proactively working to procure the vaccines, just to immunize their respective constituents from COVID-19.

“In separate, obviously uncoordinated moves, many LGUs are doing what the national government is miserably failing to accomplish. They act proactively to procure the vaccines to immunize their constituents from the coronavirus,” he said on his Twitter account.

Earlier, Lacson slammed health secretary Francisco Duque III for dropping the ball on efforts to procure vaccines from the United States.

He noted Duque failed to sign an agreement that would have sealed the deal with US-based Pfizer.

On the other hand, several LGUs had announced they are pursuing their separate efforts to procure vaccines for their constituents.
