Filipinos won’t be forced to receive coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccinations, President Rodrigo Duterte said.
Duterte made the remark amid alleged government’s preference for China-made vaccines, which are reportedly less effective than the others.
“Kung ayaw ninyo, okay lang. Walang problema,” the Chief Executive said during his pre-recorded address Wednesday night.
“Kung mayroong mga tao na ayaw, eh ‘di mas mabuti mauna natin ‘yung gusto, at we can tone down the orders kung sobra-sobra na,” he added.
Earlier, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr said Covid-19 vaccines developed by China’s Sinovac Biotech would arrive in the country by February.
Vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca are also expected to be available before June, he also said.
