Arrogance has no place in public service.
Former Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda has given an unsolicited advice to his successor about rendering public service and dealing with the media.
In his latest post on Twitter, Lacierda urged Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque to tone down arrogance and never to quarrel with the press.
The former Malacanang official made the comment after watching the on-air meltdown of Roque on live television. Roque blew his top when grilled about his stance on the scrapping of the UP-DND accord by CNN Philippines anchor Pinky Webb on Wednesday, Jan. 20
After seeing how Roque lost his temper on live television, Lacierda reminded the official to avoid arguments with journalists.
“I just (saw) the exchange between Sec Roque and @iampinkywebb. May kasabihan tayo when dealing with media – Never quarrel with a person who buys ink by the barrel,” Lacierda tweeted.
He also shared with Roque about the lesson of humility by citing the fly perched on a carabao who feels higher than the carabao.
“Wag masyadong mayabang. Nakatungtong lang sa kalabaw, hindi ibig sabihin matayog ka na.
Free Willy na lang tayo,” Lacierda said.
