The Philippines is expected to receive 30 to 40 million doses of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines for free through the COVAX Facility, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said.
The COVAX Facility is a global initiative that brings together governments and manufacturers to ensure fair and equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines.
“Ikinagagalak ko po na ibalita na ang ating COVAX Facility para sa Pilipinas ay naaprubahan na po. Makakasiguro na meron tayong 30 to 40 million na doses for free para sa lahat ng ating kababayan,” Galvez said during a Laging Handa briefing Thursday.
The chief implementer of the government’s action plan on the pandemic said they are currently negotiating with 22 logistics companies involved in shipping and storing the coronavirus vaccine at low temperatures.
“Ito ay bahagi ng paghahanda ng gobyerno sa mga darating na bakuna. This is to ensure that we have zero wastage, para makasiguro na ang bakuna makarating sa ating mga kababayan. Walang masasayang, walang matatapon at ang efficacy ay ma-preserve at ma-maintain,” he added.
