President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday had his biometric information taken as he registered for the National Identification System.
The Philippine Statistics Authority administered the process in Malacañang.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea accompanied Duterte in the registration process, photos from Malacañang showed.
In August 2018, the President signed into law the Philippine Identification System Act, which aims to establish a single national ID for Filipinos and resident aliens.
Last month, Duterte approved the P3.52-billion additional budget to register 20 million more individuals in the Philippine Identification System.
