Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has resigned from his post as the country’s contact tracing czar, Malacañang confirmed Friday.
In a brief statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, however, said that Magalong’s resignation “has not been accepted.”
The mayor, he added, “continues to enjoy the trust and confidence of the leadership of the National Task Force Against Covid-19.”
His resignation came on the heels of an investigation into the coronavirus protocol breaches at the recent birthday party of Tim Yap in Baguio City which the mayor and his wife attended.
Magalong earlier admitted seeing violations of health protocols during the celebration.
