Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Saturday (Jan. 23) he gave supervision of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to newly appointed Undersecretary Jon Paulo Salvahan.
“Usec. Salvahan took his oath before me last Wed. (Jan. 20) and assumed office the following day,” Guevarra said.
“He will take over many of the responsibilities of former Usec. Markk Perete, including supervision over the Bureau of Immigration (BI),” he added.
Perete, who resigned from his post last Oct. 1, was the undersecretary in charge of the BI.
He was also the designated spokesperson of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Guevarra said Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar will continue to be the current DOJ spokesperson.
Salvahan, who graduated law from the Ateneo de Manila University, had been a junior partner of the Medialdea, Bello, and Suarez, the law firm of Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
