New Laging Handa dokyu to feature OFW repat from Bahrain

By Prince Golez

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) will release “Misyon,” the first episode of the Laging Handa Dokyu 2.0 tonight.

“Misyon” features the 14-man Philippine delegation in Bahrain on a mission to bring home 234 distressed overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs) amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“The new season of the Laging Handa Dokyu is part of the PCOO’s relentless commitment to not only disseminate information on health protocols and precautionary measures, but also to inform the public on the most pressing issues, dispel false information, and to advocate for preparedness and vigilance,” said PCOO chief Martin Andanar.

In a press statement, Andanar lauded the dedication of the government in fulfilling its mandate to provide Filipinos the service they deserve.

“Even during Christmas and New Year, the delegation sent by President (Rodrigo) Duterte flew to Bahrain. Amid the pandemic, the government continues to promote the rights of overseas Filipino workers, strengthen the Philippines-Bahrain relations, and provide assistance to OFWs in the Middle East affected by the pandemic,” the secretary said.

The short documentary will showcase the successful mission led by Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Robert E.A. Borje held from December 28 to 31, 2020.

Borje was joined by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Arriola and PCOO Assistant Secretary JV Arcena.

They attended multiple intergovernmental meetings with Bahraini officials to reaffirm the special relationship of two countries and to promote the welfare of migrant workers.

“Misyon” will be aired at 9:30 p.m. on PTV and IBC and will be livestreamed on the PCOO and the NTF Covid-19 Facebook pages.
