Communications Secretary Martin Andanar assured the public that “no one will be left behind” in the deployment of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines.
“Under the leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, whether it is in infrastructure development or in Covid-19 vaccines, I assure all the Filipino people that no one will be left behind,” said Andanar during the “Cabinet Report sa Teleradyo” Friday.
The government earlier said the medical and government frontliners, poor families, and the vulnerable sectors should be the first to get the new Covid-19 vaccines.
“The whole-of-nation approach means that our government wants to ensure that in each corner of our country, no one will be left behind, especially when it comes to getting out of poverty amid the pandemic,” the Presidential Communications Operations Office chief said.
Earlier, Andanar pushed for media workers to be prioritized in the rollout of vaccines, saying that they should be considered as frontliners.
“They are frontliners. No matter what happens, the media is always there reporting the news every day, and the people need the media to tell them what to do,” he said.
The first batch of vaccines is expected to arrive in the Philippines in the third or fourth week of February.
