PACC chairman Dante Jimenez dies, 68

Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) chairman Dante Jimenez died Friday (January 29), his family confirmed to the media. He was 68.

In a statement released Saturday (January 30), Jimenez’s family said he died due to aortic aneurysm.

“We ask for your prayers for the eternal repose of a man who devoted his life in the crusade against crime and corruption and for good governance. We will miss him so dearly. May he rest in peace,” Jimenez’s family said.

The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), which Jimenez founded, also mourned his loss.

“Today we lost a tenacious crusader for justice. Dante Jimenez devoted his life to an advocacy against crime and corruption, and an espousal of good governance. He believed that justice is not for the privileged few but for all,” the group said.

Aside from being PACC chairman, Jimenez was also appointed as the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs in February 2020. He replaced Vice President Leni Robredo, who was removed from the position by President Rodrigo Duterte.
