President Rodrigo Duterte wants all Huey helicopters of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) decommissioned because of their frequent involvement in fatal crashes.
During a camp visit in Camp Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu, Duterte said that he plans to buy new helicopters for the PAF.
“Marami pa ba ‘yang Huey na ‘yan? Palitan ko na sana. Maano na talaga ‘yan, luma na,” he said.
The Chief Executive lamented that soldiers lost their lives while doing their duties.
Seven crew members and passengers of the UH-1H Huey utility helicopter were killed in an air accident in Bukidnon last week.
“Masaktan ka talaga. Kung wala kang koneksyon sa gobyerno, okay lang. But sa kagaya ko, ako ‘yung parang administrador ng bayan tapos ganoon ang nangyari, masakit para sa akin,” said Duterte.
