By Prince Golez

The travel ban on over 30 countries with confirmed cases of new coronavirus (Covid-19) variants will be lifted by January-end, according to Malacañang.

“The restriction remains until January 31, 2021 and would lapse after the aforesaid date,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Friday.

In his statement, Roque reiterated that all foreign nationals who are not allowed entry to the Philippines as stated by previous orders, including those holding tourist visas, are still prohibited to enter the country.

Those who are allowed still need to do the mandatory 14-day facility quarantine, he also said.

The government has banned foreign travelers coming from 36 countries due to new Covid-19 variants.

The travel ban covers Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, Portugal, India, Finland, Norway, Jordan, Brazil, Austria, China, Pakistan, Jamaica, Luxembourg, Oman, United Arab Emirates, and Hungary.
