If Sen. Panfilo Lacson had his way, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. should have been named the government’s vaccine czar.
Lacson cited Locsin on Saturday for his efforts to secure deals to bring in vaccines to the Philippines soonest.
“Thank you SFA Teddy Boy Locsin. That official action was faster than one could ever hope for. The Anti-Red Tape Authority must give you a medal for breaking their record. If you were in charge of the vaccines, imagine the kind of difference it could make to people’s lives,” he said on his Twitter account.

Last year, Locsin and Philippine ambassador to Washington Jose Romualdez worked to bring in 10 million doses of vaccines from the US by January.
But the deal was thrown off track after Health Secretary Francisco Duque III “dropped the ball” by failing to sign an agreement needed for the deal.
