Tuloy ang game plan! Duterte to Galvez: Don’t mind vaccine probe

President Rodrigo Duterte instructed vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. to shrug off any investigation on the government’s coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine program.

In his Talk to the People Monday evening, Duterte defended Galvez from criticisms concerning negotiations on the procurement and distribution of vaccines against Covid-19.

“Now, I’m telling now General Galvez ‘yung game plan niya sundin niya. With or without the investigation, proceed and implement what we planned to do kasi pinagpaguran mo ‘yan,” the Chief Executive said.

“Never mind about the investigation kasi mas lalong matagalan tayo kung nandiyan na ‘yung bakuna magdating na,” he added.

Duterte explained that Galvez merely facilitates the procurement and rollout of vaccines and that he has no say in the payment.

“All that Galvez can do is just to come to an agreement as representative or agent of the Republic of the Philippines. He has no say sa bayaran kung saan because it is purely papel,” he said.

Several lawmakers have raised concerns on the reported efficacy rate and higher cost of the vaccines the government is buying for its vaccination drive.
