‘Di matik MGCQ! Stella Quimbo bats for standards on setting looser quarantine for LGUs

By Billy Begas

House Deputy Minority Leader and Marikina Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo said the government should set indicators that will determine which areas are ready to be placed under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

“Ang sa akin dapat dyan meron na automatic indicators na ibig sabihin kapag lumagpas ka ng a certain number of cases per population sa isang LGU (local government unit) dapat matic (automatic) hindi ka pwedeng mag-MGCQ,” said Quimbo.

She said that different areas have different situations that should be assessed if they qualify to be placed under MGCQ the loosest quarantine mode.

“Sa tingin ko dapat ilatag talaga yung detalye as to how para magkaroon naman po ng sistema,” Quimbo added.

She also underscored the importance of putting a monitoring system to determine if the opening of the economy in a certain area is successful.

“At the same time ang importante dyan ay monitoring ibig sabihin kapag nagluwag tayo sa isang lugar dapat may sistema ng pag monitor so kapag dumami ang cases doon ay ibig sabihin hindi successful ang pagbukas ng ekonomiya,” she said.

President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to decide whether to approve the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to place the entire country under MGCQ starting March 1.

Quimbo is also pushing for the approval of the Bayanihan To Arise As One Act (Bayanihan 3) seeking a P420 billion response and recovery interventions.
