Vice President Leni Robredo should stop commenting on the issues surrounding the country’s Visiting Forces Agreement with the United States (U.S.), President Rodrigo Duterte said.
In his weekly address with some Cabinet members, Duterte criticized Robredo for comparing the chief executive’s demand for the U.S. to pay up to maintain the VFA to extortion.
“Itong kay Robredo, sabi ko nga, ma’am, kung ikaw ang presidente, hindi mo alam ang trabaho mo, huwag ka na lang mag… Dapat alam mo ‘yan, abogado ka, that you should not be opening your mouth while we are negotiating because maraming kasalanan ang Amerika sa atin,” the President said.
He also reiterated that Robredo is not fit for presidency.
“Ang pagkaalam kasi ni Robredo, parang nothing is wrong with America and the Philippines… Kaya ikaw, ma’am, I’m sorry to say, you are not really qualified to run for president. You do not know your role in this government,” according to him.
In his speech, Duterte again lamented how the U.S. failed to fulfill its promises and that it was slowly converting Subic into an American base.
“Wala ka sigurong alam kaya huwag ka mag-alam, huwag kang magsalita. These are the things that are known to us because I have the reports and I have also the assessments given to me by the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” he said.
