Mall cinemas, museums in GCQ areas reopening on Monday: Palace

Movie theaters in areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) have been given the green light to operate starting February 15, Malacañang said Friday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that the government’s coronavirus task force allowed mall cinemas to reopen in GCQ areas.

“It will be subject to guidelines to be issued not only by the Department of Health but also by the local government unit,” Roque said in an interview over PTV-4.

“Sigurado po nandiyan ang social distancing (at) kung ano ang issusuot habang nanunuod ng sine. Antayin na lang natin yung mga detalyeng ito na i-issue ng Department of Health at ng mga lokal na pamahalaan,” according to him.

Also, Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases also approved the reopening and further expansion of the following businesses:

-driving schools

-video and interactive-game arcades

-libraries, archives, museums, and cultural centers

-meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, and limited social events at credited establishments of the Department of Tourism; and

-limited tourist attractions, such as parks, theme parks, natural sites and historical landmarks.

“These businesses/industries shall comply with the strict observance of minimum public health standards set by the Department of Health,” he added.
