Not so flattering: Guevarra admits findings on drug war deaths ain’t good

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra admitted that there have been “not so flattering” findings against certain police officers involved in illegal drug operations that have resulted to deaths.

In the meantime, Guevarra disclosed during the recent Laging Handa presser that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been a copy of the initial report of the review conducted by the inter-agency panel led by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on over 5,000 drug operations which resulted to killings.

“We provided a copy of the report where we made certain findings, not so flattering against certain police enforcement officers na involved sa drug operations,” he said,

“We gave the PNP sufficient time to comment on these findings,” he added.

Guevarra said President Rodrigo Duterte already has a copy of the report since December and will be eventually made public.

“The DOJ-led group selected certain pilot areas muna for the initial investigation at pinili namin iyong mga areas na concentrated or heavy ang number of incidents na pertaining to iyong parang mga namatay because of drug operations,” the secretary said.

“So iyang report na iyan is with the President and we made certain recommendations in the report,” he added.
