Para protektado sa laban: House panel backs priority COVID-19 vaccination for competing Pinoy athletes

By Billy Begas

The House Committee on Youth and Sports on Tuesday adopted a resolution seeking to prioritize for COVID-19 vaccination athletes who will compete in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics and 2021 Southeast Asian Games

The Committee adopted House Resolution 1507 authored by Deputy Speaker and 1-Pacman Rep. Mikee Romero and included other athletes who will participate in other international competitions.

Romero said a number of national players would undergo qualifying stages for international competition.

“Whereas, it is imperative that our national athletes should be classified as frontliners, in order to prioritize their vaccination against COVID-19 in the soonest possible time, to ensure that they will be allowed to participate in the qualifying stages,” said Romero in his resolution.

During the hearing, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairperson William Ramirez said the agency wrote a letter to the IATF for a similar request.
