President Rodrigo Duterte will be among the first to receive the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine, Malacañang said Monday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the first vaccines will come from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility, which are expected to be delivered in mid-February.
“Ang Presidente will enjoy priority dahil siya ay senior citizen,” Roque said during a televised briefing.
“Importante rin magpabakuna siya for vaccine confidence, inaasahan natin siya ang isa sa mauuna. Whether it will be done publicly or in private is his decision,” he added.
The spokesman had said that Duterte will get injected in the buttocks so it cannot be done in public.
All medical frontliners will get vaccinated this month. Persons with comorbidities and frontline personnel in essential sectors would also be given a higher priority.
