Soldiers, economic frontliners to get Sinovac jabs first – Palace

By Prince Golez

The state’s priority list for vaccine rollout could be changed since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not recommend the use of China’s Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine for healthcare workers and senior citizens, Malacañang said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement after the FDA granted Sinovac’s CoronaVac an emergency use authorization, saying it has an efficacy rate of 65.3 to 91.2 percent when used on clinically healthy members of the community aged 18 to 59 years old.

The vaccine, however, has a lower efficacy rate of 50.4 percent when used on health care workers exposed to Covid-19, said Director General Eric Domingo, adding that its use in such group is not recommended.

The Sinovac vaccine may be given first to economic frontliners and military, Roque said during his televised briefing Monday.

Meron kasing 100,000 na donated para sa militar so kinakailangan magamit talaga yung 100,000 sa militar,” according to him.
