The 2021 Toyota Innova Will Start at P 1.186M

Toyota Motor Philippines’s best-selling MPV will be getting an upgrade, and it’s arriving as soon as this Saturday. Mark your calendars as the refreshed 2021 Innova drops in on February 20.

While the country’s number one automaker has kept mum on details, a trip down the South Luzon Expressway will show how the MPV looks like courtesy of a billboard that’s already up a few days before its official launch.

Similar to its Indonesian counterpart which was launched in October of last year, the 2021 Innova gets a larger grille and re-shaped bumper. The SUV-like styling necessitated that the turn signal indicators be pushed to the sides, while the front fog lamps now occupy a space just towards the lower edge of the bumper. Other changes include new side mirrors, and new alloy wheels sized 16 or 17 inches, depending on the variant.

The same billboard reveals a slight bump in prices, with the base model now at P 1.186 million. Upon checking the fine print, it shows that this J MT variant sports the 2.8-liter, a strong indicator that the 2.0-liter gas engine will indeed be dropped.

Other variants of the 2021 Innova will supposedly carry the following prices:

• 2.8 J Diesel MT – P 1,186,000
• 2.8 E Diesel MT – P 1,285,000
• 2.8 E Diesel AT – P 1,355,000
• 2.8 G Diesel MT – P 1,522,000
• 2.8 G Diesel AT – P 1,595,000
• 2.8 V Diesel AT – P 1,739,000

If things remain the same, all Innovas will be powered by a de-tuned version of the 1GD-FTV engine seen in the Hilux and Fortuner. Power and torque are dependent on transmission with the 6-speed AT variants getting 171 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque, while the 5-speed MT variants getting 167 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque.

Inside, the 2021 Innova is reportedly getting a slight bump regarding its infotainment system with all but the fleet-friendly J variant getting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Leather isn’t available yet, but at least the color scheme has now switched from the current two-tone black/brown to a sportier monotone black.

In terms of safety, Toyota is said to be putting in vehicle stability control with hill start assist as standard equipment on top of the three (for the J, E, and G) or seven airbag system (for the V) as well as ABS with EBD. Both the G and V variants will also sport a rear camera along with its reverse parking sensors.
