By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte renewed his warning to public officials to stay away from corruption if they want to remain in their posts.

“Ngayon, kayong mga ano, you know, madali na lang ako. But ‘pag nagkamali kayo maski kaunti ngayon, iwasan ninyo magkamali,” Duterte said during his weekly public address last Monday.

The Chief Executive said state workers must steer clear of corrupt practices if they value their work.

“If you want to stay in government, iwasan ninyo,” he added.

In the same speech, Duterte named several government personnel who were either removed from service or were suspended.

Public Works personnel implicated for committing prohibited acts were Ramiro Cruz, District Engineer, Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office; Armando Juan, Project Engineer; and Alfredo Hernandez, Chief Construction Section, Bulacan District Engineer’s Office.

They were charged with serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, poor performance of functions, and other offenses.

Noel Reyes, Administrative Officer III from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is also facing serious dishonesty, grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty, falsification of public documents, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the government for falsifying official receipt resulting in unreported amount of P1.69 million intended for the DTI.
