President Rodrigo Duterte vowed on Thursday to ensure that every Filipino who wants to get a coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine can receive one.
“I assure the Filipino people that your government will ensure the immediate distribution of these available vaccines to our communities,” Duterte said during the arrival ceremony of the 487,200 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from the global COVAX facility.
The Chief Executive also directed all government agencies to “actively” institutionalize and sustain the whole-of-government response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our health authorities are also actively collaborating with their international counterparts in conducting continuous studies on vaccine safety and efficacy,” he added.
A total of 584,667 Covid-19 cases have so far been recorded in the Philippines. The death toll also climbed to 12,404.
